Buying art
You can buy a piece on Curiate without signing up. Scan the code on the wall or open a link, check the price, and pay with a card through Square.
From a wall label
- Point your phone's camera at the QR code on the card. It opens the piece in the show, in your browser.
- A sheet shows the piece, a note that it is an original, one-of-a-kind physical artwork, and Buy for $X. View post shows more about the work.
- Tap Buy. A Square checkout page opens. Enter your card details and an email address.
- Pay. Square emails you a receipt, and the piece is marked sold in the show so nobody else can buy it.
The artist and the curator are told about the sale straight away. Collecting or shipping the work is arranged with them; the show's organiser has the email you entered.
From an artist's profile or a post
A priced post shows a Buy Now bar. Tapping it opens the same Square checkout. If you are using the Curiate app, the checkout opens in your browser; return to the app and pull down to refresh the post once you have paid.
If the piece is currently in an exclusive show, the profile sale is paused and you are pointed to the show instead.
Paying in person
At a show, the curator or a member of staff can take your card on their own device. The payment goes through the same Square checkout and you get the same emailed receipt.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by the seller through Square. Contact the artist or the show's curator; their details are on the show page and the profile.
Your account is optional
Buying never requires a Curiate account. If you do create one, you can follow the artists whose work you bought, and you will see their new work in your feed.
